Hello everyone. I just need to vent yet again. Went to the ER last night with BP of 162/100. They done labs, EKG and xray. Everything was fine until 11:30 when I had run of PVCs and HR went up to `127 and the doctor called it vtach, sent me to a bigger hospital by ambulance to only have cardio come in this morning and tell me that its artifact. So confused and my cardio docs just dont seem to listen or answer my conerns. I no longer no where to turn or what to do. BP was not even addressed. I just feel like giving up. They wouldnt even bring in the tech to let him download the pacer I just dont know anymore. Thanks for listening.

Stay out of the ER

You are way to sensitive to minor things. The more you get involved with the ER the more you are exposed to errors, artifacts, and unnecessary procedures. There comes a point where the medical community will kill you before you would have died from a real problem.

BP

Is your resting blood pressure that high? Obviously if you are exercising or stressed, it will be higher. It is said that BP over 140/100 is not good, so I think you have a right to be concerned if it is over that when resting.
Find another doctor, not a cardio. Maybe you need some hypotensive medication. I wonder if it is genetic? Do you know what you parents and or sibling normal BP is? My husband had High BP, now controlled, so does his sister and brother. Apparently his father did too.
As for pvc's, I have been told that they are of no concern, that everyone gets them sometimes, but we feel them more with a pm. As for the fast heart rate, again if that was at rest it seems too high. Are you on any medication?
Don't give up, but I think it would be a good idea to go to a GP.
Let us know how you go

I was told by my cardio to go to the ER. My BP is usually 117/76. I have a huge history of having high BP in my family. But Frank I think you are right, the ER hurts me more than it helps me, but I do need another cardio doc. I know you think I am paying attention to minor things and you are probably right, but I am trying to get better. I went onto work today and it went ok
I appreciate all the input and help you all give me. Sometime I need to hear the hard truth and sometime I need the support and I get both here and I appreciate you all. Thank you once again.

Hi Tina,
I don't visit this site as much as I used to...or as much as I should. I apologize that I don't know a lot of your history....but just by reading this post made me sit back and go "wow.....she sounds like I used to...."
I was on HIGH ALERT for a long time after my PM. I'm to the point now where I only notice it if my baby whacks me one LOL. I still have blips and pauses....but I breath through them...if I even notice them.
Try to find a doctor that will listen to you. I was given a "sit down" talk by 2 doctors...and then a 3rd and yet a 4th until I chose to believe what they were saying and believe in myself.
One thing I like to remember is that I was 100% healthy before the PM...didn't even know I really had a problem. Getting the PM isn't causing me more problems...it's only taking care of the one I actually didn't know about.
Try to find some peace and comfort. You and your PM are going to be together for a long, long time. try to make friends sooner than later LOL.....
Hugs!
Why?

Tina, I'm missing something. Did someone tell you that blood pressure of those readings was an emergency worthy of an ER visit???? Mine spikes that high and a tad higher but I've been told to just keep doing what I'm doing. So, I'm confused.

Once upon a time I would take my pressure and if it was a little high my worrying about it only made it higher. So I would start taking it again and higher it went until I worked myself up to a frenzy. It took me a while to stop taking my pressure so often.... Bp fluctuates ... I can have normal bp and when I walk In to my docs office it's higher. I am with Frank on this one. A bp of 162/100 is high ... But that's what a get when I'm aggravated.
Stress

Hi Tina,
Have you ever had panic attacks before? I have and they are not fun and will definitely cause b/p spikes. I still stand by what I said a few days ago 162/100 is not worth going to the ER for and could cause more problems for you in regards to stress. I vote for a new cardio.... plus maybe a visit to a psychologist to discuss panic attacks. Keep us informed because we care about you.

Can you get a 2nd opinion?
