All Good About to Have a MRI

Hi Pacers
Now at the 10 week mark post pacemaker fittment......all good, cycling continueing to improve every day, last week, turned back the clock 4 years with a time for a 80km ride in the hills east of Melbourne.
My cardio continues to be pleased but has suggested an MRI as a final check. I have a new model St.Jude PM that is designed to be compatable with the MRI device and my cardio and a St.Jude technition will be in attendance.
Any advice/tips.....

Many thanks

Hi Wayne!

You got the pacemaker to treat bradycardia, right? You don't have any other heart issues, and have always been very active, right? If so, then why the MRI now? I don't get it. I mean, did the echo or treadmill test show anything wrong with your heart muscle? I know that you don't have to worry about paying for the MRI, but still, an MRI is a quite expensive test to do, and right now I don't really see any need for it in your case. Echo/stress echo and treadmill test should be enough to check your heart. The MRI is just an expensive extra, and maybe your cardio just likes to do it it because he wants to see if the pacemaker really is MRI-safe. I have no idea. But if everyone of us with bradycardia would undergo an MRI before resuming physical exercise...

Best wishes
Inga
