Hi,
I had my first PM check on Thursday. Despite a niggling worry that a lead may have pulled (I have been quite active)I am happy to report that all is fine. I am glad I kept an exercise diary though as the technician found a few occurrences of a high pulse that might otherwise have been classified as atrial fibrillation lol! They all correlated with my running records and my own pulse rate recordings for my runs so all fine there. I have no problems during or after exercise. To prevent false positives in future they changed the setting to 200 beats per min. They also tuned my lower rate limit down to 50 during the day and 45 at night. Since then I have slept a lot better.
Best part of all was when I came out of the assessment room and my 4 year son ran and jumped into my arms and I could scoop him onto my shoulders. Something we have not done for 6 weeks!
Thanks to all on here for your ongoing support and advice. This forum is fantastic.
Mark

My rep always laughs when she gets my report. almost all of my recorded episodes are between 7:00 and 7:20 am, which is the middle of the time I'm at the gym. It's always important to ask what time/day it was when they tell us we had tachycardia. Watching tv is tachycardia, running or biking or lifting weights is called exercise :)
High HR induced by exercise

Hello Mark You make a good point re keeping exercise records . At my last check-up the PM Tech guy seemed slightly concerned about spells of "tachycardia" . We pin-pointed one particular episode where I was hitting 180bpm . I had been running up some fairly savage hills at the time. Every other period of high HR was exercise-related.
I thought it was a cause for celebration , rather than concern.......it proved that my sinus node is working OK !
I hope my son doesn't jump into my arms though ( we celebrated his 40th birthday yesterday ! )
Cheers
Ian

I'm 44, active and have had my device for two years. I love it as I can run again and enjoy working out without feeling like I'm an old man.
Great!

You could be a poster child for pacemakers! Sounds like you have a great tech, what a huge asset to someone active. So glad to hear all is well and you are officially back to full speed.
