Is this related to the pacemaker?

Hi all, im new to this all but i had a pacemaker fitted in Nov, im 18 but i was just wondering weather these problems are related to having a pacemaker fitted; pins & needles (feet/legs,hands) a nose bleed, instant headaches and palpations still this makes it uncomfortable for me to lie down, ive had the flu at least 3-4 times since ive had this precedure ive never had this kind of thing happen before. I recently went back into the hospital as my 1st appointment was due but they had to re adjust the rythem as i was having palpatations. Anyone who could help me i would really appreciate it :)

Hi Shannon Jade,

I had pins & needles in my hands and feet for the few weeks, maybe a little longer. I never really knew if it was from the PM itself, the meds they sent me home with to sleep (Percocet), the procedure, or the drugs they used during the procedure. That feeling did go away though. Hopefully, yours will as well. I remember my Cardio doc saying it takes your body a while to accept and get used to things, and until then, you can have some weird symptoms. Especially, if you are paced a major part of the time.

Come to think of it, a couple of times when my settings weren't right, I had that same pins & needles feeling come back. If it doesn't go away, I'd tell your doctor AND your PM tech so they can check it out. Your settings may need some changing. I don't have those feelings any longer, so stay positive, there is hope yours will go away too.

I've had nosebleeds due to my INR being too high from Coumadin, but never from the PM. I've never experienced headaches. I do have palpatations because I'm in chronic A-fib.

Are you 100% paced? Or, is it on an as needed basis?

I think you'll get a lot of responses on the other issues I haven't had problems with. I know I've seen your same question asked by others in the past, so there must be others out there having the same problem. Did you do a search on this site? If not, go to the top, right hand corner and click on search. Enter any key words you'd like to check out.

Take care and I hope you feel better soon!

............................are you on a high dose of Aspirin or similar ? As a standard blood thinner this can result in bleeds not only from the nose but from small scratches during the night. You can also expect bruises to take longer to clear up.

If you are not on Aspirin or similar then a visit to Mr Doctor wont be a bad idea.
