PM implanted on Jan 2. I am going back to work tomorrow and have been trying to gear up by being progressively more active. I find that after what would in the past have been routine - an hours of walking, a movie or meal out etc...I come home exhausted. I notice a feeling (not actual) of shortness of breath especially when I walk faster. I do not feel lightheaded just a slight pressure between my breasts. If i press on it does nit get worse, but reslly does not go away until I slow down or rest. After such exertions I am so tired. When I get home I immediately fall asleep in a chair for a couple of hours and still sleep all night too. I feel like a newborn kitten. Any suggestions?

............having a PM will, in many people bring out reactions ..emotions..elations..
Fact Is...
No one actually WANTS one..you get one (if you are lucky in this world-you do..)..cos you need one
Everyone takes on this new phase in thier lives in thier own way..there are many variables that affect the outcome..just a couple.:
That sense of Acceptance, as in, emotional.
The logical understanding of the reasons why a PM was the best clinical decision for You,..as an individual.
Robert is spot-on ,you are just a few days down the PM road and ,just maybe, your settings are in need of adjusting.....so..
At your next Download / Interrogation, make sure that you have a list of your concerns..and TELL THEM
It is the Tecchies job to get you out of the door set up as well as they know how.
I think it will be ok...keep notes so you can look back and see how things have progressed

I had my pm implanted in sept. I was also having pain when i walked to fast. Informed the DR. and they made an adjustment to the pm and its better. Maybe that is what you need. Good Luck and God Bless.

and it takes time to get back to what you'd consider normal.
Everyone is different and recovers at a different rate. I've had my PM for six weeks now but as I gradually started exercising I found that I was pretty tired too and, like you, what used to be routine stuff made me flake out. Now though I can do much more and am certainly less tired. So my advice is don't try to rush it.
I know that is hard for people who were very active prior to being paced. Like giving up smoking - you miss the endorphine rush exercise gives you. But have no fear it'll all come back to you with time and a little patience.
I guess that the first few days back at work will be tiring for you - just being on the go constantly is tiring even if you don't seem to be doing much physical. Try to take it easy when you can and I wish you well with it.
As to the pain - hard to say. Could be referred pain from the implant site. Or possibly a muscle pain caused by the lungs inflating as it seems to go away when your breathing slows. I'd not worry - you have a foreign body implanted in your shoulder. Surrounding tissues take time to both heal and get used to the pressure the pm can cause. Mine was painful at first but now I can lie happily on that side and deep breaths don;t cause pain any more. Give it a bit if time and if it doesn't subside or if it gets worse go to the doc.
So head up then and hope work goes well for you.
