I recently (4 weeks) had a St Jude pacemaker implanted and I continue to have swelling discomfort and discoloration on my left arm. Elevating my left arm has only provided very limited relief.
Has anyone experienced this concern?

I too had swelling and discomfort for several weeks and even now after 6 months have periodic and very slight sensations that get my attention. Best wishes.

Hart2hart, have you had a recent checkup with a doctor and told him or her about this? If you have not, I think you need to be checked out to make sure everything is healing as it should.
Let us know how you are doing, Cathy

It's probably normal but when in doubt, get it looked at. Is the discoloration new?

Check with your doctor. It usually takes about 6 weeks for your body to heal after an implant is inserted.
I was surprised to be so sore after my second implant but the doctor said they had to cut through scar tissue. Also, a younger person takes a lot longer to heal than us old folks because they have a lot more muscle.
Hang in there, you will be fine and even forget you have a PM.
