Sharp Stinging

After 8 years with my first pacemaker, it was time to replace it. My second pacemaker was replaced in the beginning of October. My cardiologist is fantastic and I've been with him for years --- so I completely trust his work.
The issue is that since it's been replaced, I feel as if I'm getting stung. Some days, nothing at all happens. Other days, it's random 'stings' all day. On a few occasions, the 'sting' has been surprisingly sharp.
Has this occurred to anyone else? Any advice on what it might be?

Stinging

It is possible the stinging feeling is the wound knitting and healing. I had that after having a lead revision. Some stings felt sharp like an ant bite. It took quite a few months for it to finally subside.

I'm sure others will be along to help offer their experiences.

Take care,

I have stings too

I have had my first and only pacemaker coming to three years. It is for Sick Sinus Sydrome and I have two leads. I had all sorts or stings and stabs the first two or three weeks and then they stopped. Now after all this time I have had two stings and stabs incidents in the past two weeks. I know how upsetting it feels. I just saw my doctor for regular checkup last week before the secod incident and he said the monitor showed I had electrical interference with pacemaker a few times. I thought I was being careful with cell phone, hair dryer - anything that could disturb the PM. He said my stabs the first time probably were just muscle spasm in chest muscle. I don't believe that. It was the PM doing something and it was painful. I wasn't near anything electrical or magnetic at the time. I don't want to call the doctor back so I will just wait and see what happens next and worry. Good luck to you and don't be hesitant to call the doctor like I am.

Angrysparrow you described it best. That is exactly how it feels. I am trying to go on the assumption that I am not going to suddenly drop dead. I wish we knew exactly why it happens when we are not near anything that could cause interference. I am 73 year old female with no other ailments and I have a lot of things I need to do and this is a big nuisance for me. I am thankful to have a PM though, otherwise I would be dead for sure.

Stings Stopped

My stinging/stabbing pains have stopped past four days. I have decided that even though the doctor doesn't give a clear answer on exactly what is causing it, I will just go about my business and not worry so much. I didn't drop dead from it so it must be O.K. Hope the rest of you are better too.

Stings dangerous?

I recieved my pacemaker/ defibulator double lead in August 2012 I have had sharp stabbing pains off and on. Since day one. Sometimes a lot of them sometimes one or two then they stop. I also have had occasional lower rib pain from time to time too. I told my Dr. And he said everything looked fine and that I shouldn't be feeling any pain. But I do. So I ignore it until it returns then wait it out till the next time. I just thought it was part of having one. I don't have a monitor yet because my kind of implant is so new, they don't have any made yet for it. So I'm unsure if I'm receiving shocks from the defibulator or not. Can anyone tell me what that feels like? Thank you
