I'm 36 and this if my first implant. The surgery went gt
React and took about 2 hours, I bled a lot so I had to have a pressure dressing and it was sitting right on a nerve and was shooting pain down my arm. The kept giving me morphine. When I was taken back to my room the stupid person who took me in just said " ok now scoot on to the bed. " doped up me did. Next thing I know the doctor is telling me that a lead had came out and I was going back into surgery in the morning. The next day my surgery took 7 hours and all they were doing was putting a lead back. Afterwards the Dr. said it was the toughest one he had ever done. I was taken back to my room by members of. Very tired surgical team and they lifted me into the bed and I had an Immobilizer on my arm for 24 hours.
It has been 14 days later and my dressing has fallen off and it looks good, but I'm having swelling off and on. I'm terrified that the wrong move will cause the lead to come back out. My 5 year old elbowed me this morning.
My question is what can I do for the swelling.
Thanks for the info. I'm just nervous that ill have to have another surgery and I have no more FMLA time left.

Lead coming out?

MK: Look at the healed condition of the external wound. Pretty tight looking, isn't it? Well, your implant sites should be just about as well healed as that by now.
It will take a lot at this point to dislodge that lead - that is IF the surgeon did a good job getting it planted this time. That first lead coming out - that was his fault in all likelihood. Properly placed, they don't come out.
Do not be paranoid about the lead coming out - just don't do anything stupid - like swinging from the chandelier by the arm on the PM side while eating a banana w/ the other hand!
They should have given you a list of restrictions for the first 6 weeks - follow that & you should be safe.
Can't help you w/ the swelling.
