fed up

HI.Iam new to this site.I have been reading for a while, and have decided to post.I had my dual pm placed in April 2012. Was a surprise as so many peoples seem to be.was told i have tacky/brady syndrome and sss.ok so i can deal with that..and ive been dealing with the ups and downs of the pm..but been having alot of problems with "shocks" or what ever they are.have been interogated so many times..they tell me all is good.so yesterday i went on a college tour with my daughter and one again when we went to look at a dorm..with an alarm,i walked thru the front door and once again got this horrible feeling and had to turn around and leave..they"the doctors" tell me the boston scien pm cannot shock me in any way...please someone talk to me.im 41 and do not want to live my life afraid to go anywhere..my husband and daughter are having to deal with this too.we used to go everywhere..now im stuck at home..this has happened at walmart even..the doctors arnnt listening and im fed up...i want it out!!

Shocking

Hi Anna,

Well I do not know much about PM's, but sometimes when I go through alarmed doors I feel a tad strange, but once through them it quickly goes away, something you have to get used to.
As your doctor have said, and as far as I am aware, your normal PM can't shock you only the ICD types designed for the purpose will do that. As I said I am no expert.
Where exactly are you being shocked and is it a tingly sensation?
I hope you get better soon and try not to worry (easy said).
Best Len

Shocking?

It may not actually be a shock you're feeling but the effect of being near a magnetic field. It's similar to the feeling you get when they interrogate your PM with their magnetic mouse. If that's what it is, then no harm, no foul, it's always temporary and does no damage to you or your PM. A lot of automatic doors have those sensors or whatever they call them that can cause a real strange feeling but it goes right away when you get away from them. You might try asking your doc or the tech from the PM company about this. The tech probably knows more about it than the doc, since they work with it every day. If they gave you an 800 phone # for BoSci you might call them about this, as I bet they get asked a lot.

It certainly shouldn't be allowed to make you a prisoner in your own home. My BoSci PM has never been a problem like this, so I'm only speculating, but hope you can get some good answers.

Hi Anna, I agree with Zia, I think a tech from BS may be able to better help you with this problem than the doctors.

Please dont settle for staying home. Your PM should not be making you feel like you cant go anywhere. I too have a BS and have never experienced what you are going through, so something is not right.

If you can't see a tech at your clinic, please call BS directly on Monday and get some help. Keep in touch, Cathy

i have called boston scien. rep.(not sure i got anywhere there) but i have seen my doctor and now have more apts set up.at least they are listening now..and are thinking they may have to replace pm after only 6 months.that scares me but what choices do i have.they tell me the pm is pacing my heart 90% of the time but they have it set on 75 bpm.this is all so confusing..ugggghhh.my mother is 74 and has pm and has never had a problem.i also have a cousin and a seven year old nephew also no problems...i just really am tired of feeling so tired and sore.and im guessing maybe some nerve damage..my surgery took 5 hours of laying flat on my back..they started with electrophhysiology study that threw me into two afib which they had to shock me out of..then flipped the room and bam. pm..so thank you for listening..ive been so lost and scared
