I am in Afib 100% of the time. My EP doc does not appear concerned by this at all and just says the PM is handling that. Anyone in afib all the time??

I am in A-fib 100% of the time, and have been since 1987. I have a CRT-P with AV Node Ablation due to the damage my chronic uncontrolled A-fib did over the years (cardiomyopathy with heart failure, etc.). As far as the A-fib goes, I actually feel better since my PM because the rate is now controlled (set at 80 bpm with range to 150 bpm) versus going up into the mid to high 200's during the day, and even higher during exercise like it did before the PM.
When I received my PM, it was made very clear that the A-fib would not be fixed by the PM, the AV Node Alabtion, or any other things done during the procedure putting it in. But, they did say I "might" feel better since the rate would now be controlled.
Were you told it would go away with the PM?
PM longevity.

The way I understand it though is average battery life may be ten years however, we're all different. If someone is in afib 10% of the time their battery is going to last waaaay longer than someone in afib 100% of the time. It's according to how much the PM is kicking in to keep you under control...

Since moving from Citrus Co to Bay Co Florida I've been in a-fib 100%.Have a duel PM and do not have the energy I once had. I am 83 and was better with my doctor in Citrus Co. I think some doctors are much better getting you on the right track and meds. Was told this PM would last 10 years they replaced it this year, now they tell me 6 yrs.
You know you're wired when...

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.

I was in afib/aflutter 100% of the time for the last 3 years. I had some short breaks after ablations four and five but went back into afib/flutter each time. I had my 6th ablation on Aug 21, six weeks ago and so far I have been in sinus rhythm since. Not a long time but I am taking it one day at a time. I feel so much better. I feel re-energized. Its hard to put into words, I have had a long history of arrhythmia. This December will be 20 years 100 paced and soon to be on my fourth PM. I have tried my best not to let it get me down. I am still working 50 hours a week at 63 years old. So I guess what I am saying you can live with afib but work with your doctor to see if you can find a way out. You will feel so much better. Good Luck
