I had my PM implanted a little over 3 months ago on 09/28/2012 for sick sinus, and 3rd degree block due to rheumatic fever when I was 12. I also had a hole closed in my atrium 2 yrs ago. About a week ago I walked into a side mirror on a huge truck which parked too close. I was at the perfect height for it to hit my PM which istantly brought me to tears and took my breath away. Since then, I have passed out 2 times and become dizzy while walking. The PM even looks different under my skin. I have a appt with my dr due to the problem but I thought that the PM's were not easy to break or mess up in anyway. I never really hit that area before my surgery but now that I have a PM, everything seems to make contact with it.

I appreciate your response. I guess the dr will be able to tell when I go for my appt. Thx again
Don't wait.

If you are experiencing passing out don't wait for a routine appt. If you damaged a lead as Smitty mentioned you are likely without pacemaker support. You could injure yourself if you passed out and fell. And I hope you aren't driving.
Call the doctors office and tell them you need immediate attention.

Thanks everyone. My Dr. just needed to tweak the settings which helped
You know you're wired when...
You have a maintenance schedule just like your car.

Damaged PM Or Leads
by SMITTY - 2012-12-31 04:12:30
Hello,
Your PM is probably tough enough to withstand a direct lick from a hammer. However, you have some leads that consist of very, very small wires coming out of that PM that could have been damaged. My guess is your problem is from damaged leads not a damaged PM.
Good luck,
Smitty
