My father who is a robust 85 year old was scheduled for a triple by pass and valve replacement. He was healthy other than his heart which the doctors said was strong. They said that prior to the procedure he was going to get a pacemaker for precautionary measures for his surgery. He had an exterior pacemaker put in and then a regular pacemaker. After the pacemaker was put in they said he had fainted and his blood pressure dropped.
They them put I'm on a respirator and breathing tubes and heavily sedated him. After a day and a glad they took him off. They then told us he almost died and wasn't strong enough for the open heart surgery. They had no explanation for why this happened. He has now been lying in bed for two weeks trying to get stronger. Has anyone ever heard of someone almost dying be because of a pacemaker being put in? Can anyone offer any explanation? Thank you very much.

Always a risk

People die from simple procedures that just blow your mind. Sometimes, nobody even knows why. There is a risk with every surgery. All the more when they are messing with your heart.
One can't exactly do an autopsy on a living person to find the reason for the complication. Sometimes we have to just accept what happened, medical malpractice notwithstanding. Thank God he made it through and pray that he gets well enough for the other procedures. I'll pray for you.
