Implant scheduled

I now have the date of Aug. 31 scheduled at Tufts in Boston for the pacemaker implant.
Now I can add this to my list of problems. I have poly neuropathy, pre-diabetic, pre-kidney failure, bone spurs in the neck and lower back. I can't walk without pain, I can't sit ( for long) without pain, I have to turn my whole body to look very far to the side, and I can't get a good nights sleep because of all the tossing and turning (now researching for a mattress to replace my water bed) I can't get out of it very easy anymore. All this and I just reached 70 years of age last week.

I am crazy about my Sleep Number bed. I need it hard for my back, my husband likes it soft, now we both get what we want. It is basically a fancy air mattress with lots of little tubes so it conforms to your shape/weight.

Best wishes for an easy surgery and fast recovery. Make sure the surgical team knows about your back/neck problems. Sometimes they manipulate us. Best option, if you can deal (I could not lol but other members have) is to do it with a local so you're fully awake and they're more likely to be gentle with your neck.

I have a number of health issues, the most painful my spinal problems. Extreme pain, can't walk properly now need a walking frame. I have a Tempurpedic mattress, with an additional topper. It has the motorized base underneath so I can raise the top part of the bed up and independently the bottom part can be raised up as well. You get the support under your knees with the elevation and pressure and stretching on the back is relieved - I have a great sleep - bearing in mind I have strong pain meds during the day and last think before going to bed.
I also have a Tempur pillow which supports my neck and is also amazing.

I don't know much about beds, but I do know a thing or two about people. I think it would serve you well to stop focusing on all of your problems and start being grateful about all of your solutions.
My doctor just messed up an implantation (mine to be exact) and a lead went through my heart. Even though he's pretending it's my fault, I'm not mad at him or feeling sorry for myself. I am just grateful as hell that:
1. I live in a day and age when they can do the miraculous things they do.
2. He can fix the problem.
3. I have great med insurance.
4. I am recieving a disability benifit while I'm down.
5. I have great friends and family supporting me.
6. I died while I was in hospital where I could have a Gray's Anatomy moment instead of swimming in the Atlantic to become shark bait.
7. God looks after fools and drunks - I have double coverage.
I know this may sound a little Polyanna, but your attitude is one of this most important indicators of how well you will do in a procedure. Don't sell yourself (or God for that matter) short.
Best wishes - Dave

Thanks everyone. I am obviously quite nervous.
Has anyone ever heard of the "MYERGOBED" mattress?
It sounds good to me but is very expensive.
Dave, you've really got me concerned since maybe I am a fool only because I am not a drunk. Just wondering are you a member of the clergy?lol

You're the first person ever to incinuate that I could be a member of the clergy. LMAO. I'm not a positive thinker either. I am a realist.. The positive thinker says the glass is half full. The negative thinker says the glass is half empty. The realist sees a half glass of water and drinks it while the other two argue over whether it's half full or half empty.

And not everybody is lucky enough to be a drunk....... much less a sober one. LOL

Good luck - Dave
