whats up with my PM

I had a AV block so i can't live without a Pm. But since i had it put in in 2010 everything was ok for about 2 week that was when i went to the dr's office to get it checked..then i started getting like a shock under my left rib hard ones.
now everymorning at 4:30 am it happens, i have to get up and move around until it stops, Dr said a lead must be on a nerve??? i'm sick and tired.. has anyone else had this problem?
by the way i don't have a defib..

Impedance Check

by Gellia3 - 2012-08-13 10:08:58

Hi,
Sounds like it could be your wire impedance check. Mine goes off at 4a.m. and wakes me up, too. I get three hard shocks.

It used to go off every three hours and would make my arm jerk. That's because the voltage is higher for the check than for a regular pace. My dr changed it to once daily at 4a.m.

That said, I can feel mine because I have unipolar leads and mine affects the nerve in my arm. It's possible that your wire is touching the phrenic nerve and making your diaphram contract.

See if you need the check at that time. Maybe it can be changed to a time where you can handle it better and then it won't wake you. Or, perhaps the voltage can be lowered some so you don't feel it as much.

When I started to feel mine so badly I was scared to death!
Once I knew what it was, I was able to handle it better.
Ask your dr if it's the impedance check. There are so many new "bells and whistles" on the newer PM's that alot of drs don't even know it's there.

I hope that's all it is for you and it's as easy to fix as mine was.

GOOD LUCK and do let us know what you find out.
Best to you,
Gellia

I'm getting level 4-5 pain in my rib cage, across my diaphragm, into my shouler, and down my arm on a regular basis. All test indicate this is not a cardiac event. But I don't care. I'd rather die from asystole once than lose my job (I trim trees out of high voltage electri lines - can't do that with level 4-5 pain or messed up on pain kilelers) or experience level 4-5 pain for the rest of my life.

I'm going to ask the cardiologist to restick the leads or take the damned thing out of my chest. If he won't, I'll do it myself with a paring knife! Enough is enough.

I'm going to the doctor today and be a mid level asshole about it (I hate being a total asshole. LOL). We should stay in touch. One might help the other in the end.

You know you're wired when...

You fondly named your implanted buddy.
