I had a rate responsive PM implanted five years ago. Lower rate set at 60bpm and upper tracking and sensing rate set at 110bpm. Over the years I have been debating on asking my cardiologist to increase the lower rate to 70bpm or so in hopes that I might improve my overall energy level---not that I am feeling all that bad for a 70 year old. I have no problem with moderate activity and can walk at a 2 1/2 mph rate for 45 minutes with no adverse effects. My interrogation reports have reported that my PM is pacing 100% of the time.. My resting heart rate is 60 to 70. The reason for getting the PM was elective and for prevention due to borderline bradycardia and left bundle branch block . I am takin 25mg atenolol and 10mg lisinopril. Has anyone experienced improvement by increasing the lower rate.
