Hello there. . hope this finds you all coping and well. I have now had my PM for 9 months and had been feeling really good, once the rate had been increased from 60bpm to 75bpm after my 3 mth checkup.
Unfortunately, in the past 2 weeks I have suddenly developed this stiffness at the base of my neck which in turn makes it difficult to turn my head fully to either side. It also causes at least 2 headaches a day. . . The end of my shoulders are also tender, especially if I "squeeze" into the muscle around the arms. Most irratating and I would appreciate it if anyone else could reply who has had these symtoms and what might be the cause???? Thanks guys.

most likely not cardiac

It is easy to blame everything on the pm but odds are this is something else. I've had this happen from sleeping in an odd position. If your neck is knotted up, it will cause headaches. Have you tried alternating heat and ice? And I take advil since it's a muscle relaxer. My chiropractor can usually work it out between massage and manipulation. Before I discovered him, the gp would just prescribe meds until it went away on its own.
Thank you!

Dear Angrysparrow and Tracey E. Just a quick note to thank you both for your advice. Much appreciated! I have been in a "catch 22" position as because of the sore neck etc., ( your description Tracey of my neck knotting up is exactly right!) I have not felt much like excercising! Will try to do more this week by returning to Pilates and walking.
Many thanks.
TMJ & Sleep setting

Hello all. Excuse my ignorance Jax - but what is TMJ ??
I am pleased to report that the stiff neck and headaches are much improved. I sould abit like a "cry baby" but now I have another question!?!
On my recent visit (a month ago) to my heart specalist he turned the sleep setting ON to see if this would improve my bad sleeping at night. It is set to drop to 60 bpm at 10 pm and change back to 75 bpm at 5.30 am. Now I seem to feel tired all the time! Grrrrrrrrrrr . . . has anyone else had this problem. Do you think I should make an appointment to have it turned OFF again?? Thanks guys :)

It turned out to be TMJ. I was grinding my teeth so hard at nite everything was irritated. I had a mouth guard made by my dentist and it took awhile but my headaches stopped and my neck is not sore. It might be something else but like Tracey said that we usuall look to the pm and it can be other stuff.
