Not sleeping well solved
Hi,
I have not been sleeping well since an ICD implant last July. I seemed to be hovering between sleep/awake for long periods. They had set my lower pacing to 50bpm. I went for my first check-up yesterday and after discussing it with the technician he set my HR to 45bpm from 22.00hrs to 07.30hrs. I slept like a log last night!!
As I have VT and no other problems I asked him why they used the lower pacing function anyway - the answer was "because they can". Enough said!

Glad you finally got a decent sleep. I can cope with anything as long as I get some shut eye. Funny when you think that it was as simple as lowering the pacing during the night!
Hope it continues, Jan

Hi Billie,
Re your possible checks in the UK. I did some research and it appears that the parent company is SORIN. They have a web site www.sorin.com and a "Contact us" facility. Suggest you do that and ask them about UK support. Another alternative is to contact the British Heart Foundation and ask them, they are at www.bhf.org.uk.
Sorin and Ela do come up on various UK medical sites including the NHS so I presume that they are implanted here.
The best of luck anyway and enjoy your trip.
regards
John

Hi John
First of all I looked up your profile and see you come from where my husband was brought up in England after the war. Small world.
Often you read folks do not sleep well after a pm or icd. I suffered for what seemed years and still do. I am on my second PM since 2004. My pm is set on a low of 60bpm. I have learnt to sleep but not too well and no one ever thought of adjusting things to a lower rate at night. I will ask my tech when I see him in November. I am extremely active even though I have just turned 70 and find it hard for my body to step down when I finally lay down to rest. I suppose previously my heart did the step down normally but now is at a constant rate. Anyway, that is how my inexperienced mind works it out.
I leave the technical stuff to the technical wizard members. Great guys for the difficult questions to be explained.
Next year I plan to return to England and if there are any UK members who can help me with places that my pm can be checked out I would love to hear from them. I have an Ela dual lead. The techs here hate it but the tech where it was inserted say it is the Rolls Royce of pm's I know they use them in England as the Head Office is in the town I was brought up in.
Cheers and all the best from Aus
Billlie
