I got a St Jude Medical's PM 2 weeks ago, I am feeling lightheaded always when I am moving around and driving, My sensitivities on seeing and touching thing compare to before seem difference little. how long will it be back to usual or to get use with it.
How long I shall wait to resume my sexual life, sport, especially golf .I am 62 yrs old.
Prior to receive PM, my heart rate is between 35-40 at rest, while moving is above 60 to 80 usually. Now, the Doctor have set my heart rate at 70 above, what about set to 60 any difference feel? will the battery life be longer? can I ask my Dr to reset it or monitoring to suit my physical condition?
I wish any PM members who have those experiences reply to me.

Adjustments

Hey Seow,
It took my body about a month or two to start feeling back to normal. I have had my pacemaker/defrib for two years and have had many adjustments to continously improve the way I feel. Communication with the Dr is key...let them know how you feel, when you feel certain ways, etc...
Sex- I have both a PM and Defrib in one. My wife was horrified about having sex with me...the second time we did after sugery...we both got shocked...that really horrified the two of us. Adjustments can be made to help with the device...be sure your spouse is ready in case something different happens. My wife is still spooked...She is scared...not sure yet on how to adjust that one...
Good Luck,
Ed

PM Adjustments

Hi Seow,
Many of us have to get our PM's adjusted several times before we get to the right setting that makes us comfortable. Call and let them know how you are feeling and see if you can get in for an adjustment.
While you are there, ask them about golf, and sex.
P.S. sounds like you should not be driving with those symptoms.
Good Luck, Cathy
