I,m in such a terrible state and can,t get any clear answers,I had a pm fitted early last year... In short during the operation something happened to my left arm..It felt heavy, very painful the pain reached right down to my fingers..It hurt so much I asked what the hell ha just happened to my arm the surgeon mumbles something about him touching a nerve? Is anyway. fast forward. this right? should this of happened even? And all the time did not feel right after,I told my doctor .he just said to come back in two weeks if no change ..Then my arm swelled up to twice its size..agony..bruising?general feeling of being unwell.. long story cut very short now ...been to hospital 6 times just recently..scan reveals 3 blood clots..told very serious..put on fragmin..and then warfarin..4 lots of blood tests..I feel frightened. I feel like i,m going to die..I feel as though the poxy pacemaker has caused all this to happen, no one will give me any straight answers ..are they trying to cover up for themselves? I need urgent help and advice ..I cat trust the doctors or the hospital...

UK Complaints procedure

Hello Lyn Sounds to me like gross incompetence by the surgeon !

Every hospital in the UK has a laid-down complaints procedure . If you get no joy there, you can always go to the Health Ombudsman who is independent of the NHS.

Have a look at this website and it should give you all the info you need to get the ball rolling, including telephone numbers local to where you live :-

www.nhs.uk/choiceintheNHS/.../complaints/Pages/NHScomplaints.as.

I think you will get some answers as soon as you go down the complaints route but more importantly I hope they will get you back to normal again

Best of luck

Ian

Yes, get answers

Angry Sparrow is absolutely right. You need to get answers and will probably need help to get them. This sounds like malpractice to me, but unfortunately I'm not familiar with the system where you are, so can't really give any specific advice, except don't let them wear you down. And do know that the folks here are with you in spirit even though we can't be there in person.

PS There are some folks here from the UK who may be able to give more specific advice on how to address the system.
