Irregular heartbeat

My husband has a Pacemaker-CRT/D device. His heart is being paced at 80 beats per minute but I am getting pulse rate in the 40's & 50's and ver irregular.I know his A-fib is bleeding down into the ventricles and messing with his heart rate. He also is having PVC's. he feels weak and exhausted. He has follow up with EP on Aug 8. Dr changed settings 10 days ago but is not working out very well today. Any advice or should I consider ER. Drs here do not take calls but suggest ER.

Consider the ER

From what you say, you are very concerned. You've put up w/ this situation for 10 days - you cannot wait till Aug to get help. At 79, your husband is no spring chicken & an illness like this could have very serious results. Weak & exhausted is not a good condition for a 79 yr old.

I do not know your ability to take pulse - but remember when I first started out & had a big run of PVC's my wife could not feel the pulses that were the PVC's, so she came up w/ a low count. That COULD account for your low count when you take his pulse.

Doesn't matter however, you are both worried - get him to an ER - if nothing else, someone can tell you (Perhaps) if Husband is OK. It will help the morale of both of you. I'd suggest doing it right now if you can drive & he can walk to the car & it's not 75 miles to the closest ER.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
