I am new to the PM world and I have a question. I had my PM put in on Jun 20th and I was told that my PM was set so my HR does not fall below 60 anymore (it kept hanging out in the low 40's and then last week I flatlined). I noticed that I am occasionally still having palpitatations and it still hangs out in the 40's. Most of the time it will start climbing back up to the 70's but yesterday it took over a minute before it went back up. Is that normal?

First, ditto what Frank said, count your pulse, don't depend on a monitor. That said, if you are counting that much below the set rate, go get the pm checked. It sounds like a lead may not be where it's supposed to be or your settings need adjusted. A quick check will tell you what's going on.

I'm with Frank. Check pulse with second hand on watch and good pulse point (wrist works great). I'd wager that it DOES NOT go below 59 bpm. If it does then you should have a metting with EP or cardo doctor. Your little piece of titanium aint't working right!!
I've been there before, probably needs reprogramed or a lead issue!
Good Luck!

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
How are you measuring your HR

Many of the HR monitors don't give accurate results with pacemakers. The type that use electrodes or handle bars on exercise machines will misread the extra spikes in a pacemaker ECG. They can read too high, too low,or often are irratic. The best way to check is with the old fashioned wrist pulse and the second hand on a clock.
