New Pacemaker

Hi Everyone,
I had a Medtronic Pacemaker put in on May 29, 2012. After seeing a new cardiologist, because I was always tired, he told me he thought I needed a pacemaker after seeing my EKG that my MD sent from my physical that week. After seeing the doctor he sent me to, we decided I needed a pacemaker. I am feeling like a new man now. Had it cheked today, said everything was fine. Made one adjustment for when I begin working out again. I am no longer tired, and wanting to fall asleep all the time. I have been thinking about some kind of ID, but being a guy, am very conservative. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Howdy Ironsides

Men can look fine with the bracelet or neck chain and still be cool. Women have a much, much bigger problem. We might have to share our beautiful necks with this symbol in silver even though we are wearing gold. The same with our bracelets. Darn you guys. Just hope you like whatever style you choose and you can also get more than one. I am due for a new one. The last one fell off my bracelet and my old one has outdated info on it. I will have this new one welded with a hoop on my wrist. I do not like jewelry on for sleeping.
ood luck.

ID Question

I am a 39 year old male and did get a medical id necklace. It is fine, but I never wear it because I don think it is necessary and I don't like wearing jewelry. I got the impression from my doc that wearing one was optional.

ID necessary?

Hi Ironsides

Like podpm I have never understood the need to get medical necklaces/bracelets etc. I am curious, is there anyone out there who can say " I'm glad I was wearing ID jewellry because .............." ???

The best ID you have is that scar and bulge by your collar bone;and anyone with any medical knowledge would know immediately that you have a PM. Most of us carry ID cards which I guess only helps the docs know what make of PM you have fitted .
.

I used to wear an id because I passed out all the time. At first it was a bracelet, but paramedics never saw it. So I got a necklace. Sure enough, the paramedics still missed it when I next passed out. They waited for me to come around to tell them I was on coumadin and had a heart condition. I don't know if this is a common occurrence, but it happened with paramedics in several different cities.
