I received a Medtronic Adapta on 1/16/2013 and although the normal pain afterwards I felt amazing. Well until about 2 weeks later. I went from being able to do long walks again and normal life activities to waking up about 4am with a sharp pain shooting from the middle of my chest up the right side of my neck to my shoulder down into my right arm. Took some asprin and it went away. Later that day I had a clinic appointment with my military docs and they sent me to the ER because I started screaming with the pain. The ER found nothing but yet had nothing to compare it too either. All they did was pump me full of all kinds a pain meds and I received no relief so I left still in tears. Called my doctors several times and never received a call back! Until I called my local Cardiologist (was not the one that implanted the device) and had them run a test. During the test the medtronic lady stated she seen several episodes of AFIB and didn't understand why I was in mode AAIR and not AAIRMVP? I did not have a PM inplanted for AFIB I had it done for what they call IST( Inappropriate sinus tachycardia) Resting HR was 140 constant and when moving about 180 with dizziness and blackouts. So the whole AFIB caught me off a bit. It has been close to 2 weeks and I am still receiving the shooting pains, almost feels like my lead is shocking me because I can feel it move...does anyone please have any information on what I should do or what this may be?

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.

Forgot to add...they completely did a cryoablation (freezing) of the sinus node. Which is why I needed a pacemaker!
