2 weeks
Hi All,
First time here. I'm 72 & feel pretty good now after 2 weeks with my new ICD. My question is, will I feel better the longer I have the ICD ? Does everyone get the big shock sometime?
Thanks,
Dwight

Hi! On my second ICD since 12-2004. From interrogation info, I have been just seconds away from a shock several times. I try to pace myself and reason that neither would I know if I were seconds away from a car crash either. I do think about it going down stairs, cooking when alone, etc.. I take reasonable precautions, but I don't waste time We are already blessed with second chances to live so, I just tell myself stress of will certainly not help and go about my journey. I hope you feel more at ease in time and wish you many happy years. I am only about 4 years younger than you. I thank God each night for the day ended and the next morning when I awake still here. Take care and SMILE! Hopeful Heart

The ICD is an insurance that if needed it will fire and restart your heart. I will of had my ICD 4 yrs this coming Aug it has it has fired once and that was the test done at implant. My implant was for cardiac arrest I am being Atrial
paced 87%. When you go in for your first checkup ask for
copies of your interrogation report it will show you what your unit is doing . You will soon start feeling so good you won't even think of the ICD. There usually are some adjustment that have to be made to the unit to fit your lifestyle. I also had to go through some medication changes.
