I recently had a av node ablation.my pulse is regular, but when I go into atrial fibrillation my pulse jumps from 50bpm to 70bpm resting heart rate.I thought the advantage of having the ablation was that your heart rate would not increase while in a fib.I will be seeing my EP soon but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Just an observation

Hi Seal ... as you know the average resting pulse rate is around 70 bpm so while this may seem a big jump for you , I would not be at all concerned about it providing that you feel OK at 70bpm. Many people have heart rates over double that when in a-fib
Best of luck

Problems with ablation

I had av node ablation on April 30, 2012. My EP told me that just having it done would not stop my Afib. He
gave me a prescription to take one tablet if I did have Afib, as he said I needed to get it stopped as soon as I could. I also had a pacemaker installed March 7, 2012. I still do not have much energy and get out of breath with much walking. This has had me very concerned but I did find out that I was just over anxious and had to give my body time to heal, even up to 3 months. I can't believe it. But I know I am still very lucky.
