M link is if you don't have a land line. Or i guess even if you do have one but no jack near bedside table? You can call medtronics to order one. There is no charge for the device itself, which is a wireless adapter that attaches by phone jack to the care link monitor, but there is a recurring 10.99 plus tax charge every month.

I Cut and pasted this from PDF pamphlet:

"For more information about the M-Link® Cellular Accessory, please call 1 (877) 609-6698"

The care link monitor and the m link put some serious light out with all their green lights on them. I put a tiny piece of black electrical tape over the care link monitor green light and poked a small hole in it with a pin. So I can still see it shining green and know it is working and on but not enough to light up my bedroom. I took a piece of same tape and put that over the wireless adapter (m link) lights just shy of the top so I can see they are lit up and working, but again, cutting down on the amount of shine. Much nicer sleeping environment.

It was easy to set up and came within a few days after I ordered it. My pm tech had me do a test run after I had it set up to make sure they received the transmission and that was that.

All best-

The 10.99 plus tax charge is for using cell phone towers to transmit data. I know the rep on the phone told me anything transmitted would go through att towers near my home. Medtronic sends you the device at no charge to you. Just thought my post was confusing when I looked at it again.

I'm five weeks out from surgery tomorrow and feeling great.

Best to the group!

they charge 10.99 per month everytime the device is use ?? i think that is too high if it charge one time and i might like to get m-links

10.99 x 12 month $131.88 per years that is too much money to spend a year

I thinking buy a magic jack and hook-up to the device and call medtronic and let them do a test run to make sure it work

magic jack is 19.95 per year that is phone line

Yep

It is 10.99 plus your sales tax x 12. So yes, I agree it is an expense. And it is charged every month regardless if data is transmitted. But it is just once every month, not each time it transmits.

I do not think that magic jack will work but you should definitely call Medtronic and find out for sure.
