Hey everyone
I am on my 5th pacemaker, i have a single chamber pacemaker. I am having surgery this summer to replace it, I want to get a dual chamber pacemaker. Has anyone ever gone from a single chamber to dual chamber pacemaker before? Did you feel any different? Please let me know!
Thanks!

Yes i have heard of pacemaker syndrome, Lately i been getting extra tired and shortness of breathe. I definitely want to get a dual chamber because i know its much better. You said that the pacemaker works the bottom chamber, what works the top chamber in a dual chamber? i know a single chamber, the bottom one is controlled by the pacemaker, and the top one does whatever it wants. lol thank you for your help!
Also, i dont really get feelings in my neck. sometimes i feel like it may be heavy on my shoulders, but i'm not sure if thats from the pacemaker?

Pacemaker syndrome

Short answer is ask them why you can't have it pgraded there may be a reason such as atrial problems, do you ever get any funny feelings in your neck, the way a dual chamber pacemaker works is usually the top chamber is working fine and then the pacemaker works the bottom chamber,
Think how a normal heart works top chamber bit of a gap and bottom chamber, a dual pacemaker will mimic this, a single one won't and what can happen is the pacemaker makes the bottom beat when the valve between the two chambers is open causing the blood that should be going Round the body to go back up to the top chamber, have a look at a condition called pacemaker syndrome
