Thankful

Well! I am currently a little over 4 weeks post implant and am feeling quite well. I can't believe the difference in my energy level! Wow. I still have some discomfort where the port of leads come out that sticks out of my skin, but that will go away. I can not believe only 4 weeks have passed. It feels so much longer.

A couple of weeks after surgery, I was concerned that something was wrong with my implant, as my heart seemed to be POUNDING. I went to my cardiologist, he checked it out and everything was fine. Turns out, I hadn't had a normal heartbeat in so long, I didn't know what one felt like!

There are so many members that showed me love and support and to be honest , I do not know if I would have made it without all of you. Many. many thanks.

I went to church Sunday early service and wore a dress that showed my collarbones, so my scar was visible partly. It has healed so nicely, no one even noticed. A wonder since just 4 weeks ago, it was a horrible bruised swollen mess. Maybe they did see my scar, but my dress was so stunning they didn't care! LOL Only kidding... Actually, I'm proud of my scar, my battle wound. It has saved my life and is my insurance policy. God has blessed me with good people and better health, and I'm forever grateful.

Many thanks to Don, Pacergirl, raiderralph for their special kinds words that truly touched me...and Tattoo man for making me laugh when that was the last thing I wanted to do.

Elle: You have done a great job of adapting to your duties as PM Hostess! Congrats.

I especially liked the para that started out "I went to church Sunday..."

Sounds like you have that rattlesnake called "life after PM" by the tail & are swinging it around over your head!

I do Don. I really do! Who should play me in the movie! I could not have asked for better. I wish that much for everyone.

Elle

Who should play you in the movie!

Elle: I saw your photos; I read your Bio; I've read all your posts & comments. I've pondered that question for all of about a second.

I immediately ruled out Oprah; Nell Carter (though she has the right personality), Mo'Nique (SP?), Olivia Davis & her sidekick who won the Oscar. S. Epatha Merkerson (From Law & Order - at least she was a cop!) came to mind, but...

All were instantly rejected when I thought of Halle Berry.

Elle, I cannot imagine you as a prison guard - you must have swung a mean truncheon out in the yard!

On Don,,,

From now on , just forward ALL of your bills to me. For that comment, i would do that for you for THAT COMPLIMENT I am now complete....

On honey. I wished I looked like at least one her toes!!

Yep- I was an officer for 12 yrs "firm and fair" is how I was was described by one of my Sargeants during an evaluation... For instance several years ago the the jail went smoke-free. Of course inmates smuggled cigarettes and lighters in. After lunch was served and all inmates locked down, I'd walk up and down the catwalk through the blue haze and smoke thick in the air. I strolled slowly down the catwalk with my arm behind my back "Oh Lookie here... Smoking! (you could only discipline them if you actually saw them puffing on the cigarette) 'sniff, sniff Smells like a menthol! "sniff-sniff No! I'm wrong smells like a Marlboro. I'd just keep strolling and talking " You now these matresses on these bunks turn into toxic fumes when burned. When I got to the end of the tier I would turned slowly around and say; "Hey! If someone accidently starts a fire.YOU all CAN NOT get out. Wow. what a thought! Water. oil, toxic fumes, man, that is a slow agonizing way to go. Too bad. SO KEEP IT UP!!

Next thing you hear is 45 toilets flushing at the same time!!. Not to be mean, but to make them think.
I enjoyed it, I had good partners. I was good at my job.

Hi:)

I've enjoyed reading all of the above but I have to ask this one question:

You state: "I still have some discomfort where the port of leads come out that sticks out of my skin, but that will go away." ... nothing should be sticking out of your skin!!!!!!!!

Kind of concerned,
Pookie

45 toilets all flushing at once...

...sounds like halftime during the Super Bowl!

Elle, I can just imagine you in a Mickey Rooney prison movie - "The Last Mile." Your choice - one of the hostages or one of the guards outside Death Row.

I take it you were in a county prison? Very few felony convicts w/ a yr or more to serve?

Don

Which to choose???

I was a County Correction deputy. There were those that were already sentenced. Eighteen months is the most you can get sentenced to in County lock-up. Those that were pre-trial, waiting for their day in court. With the judicial system so backlogged, they could sit in jail for many. many months. They made up most of the jail population with charges from low misdemeanor (Urinating in Public) to Open Murder (highest felony). There were many.many felonies that got sentenced to County time. There was an ENTIRE FLOOR called MAX. It was for inmates that were sentenced to many, many years in prison and those who were sentenced to life in prison, there just waiting for the state to have an open bed so they can transfer out. Serial killers etc;

We also housed all the women from prostitutes to murderers. Several areas were designated for the criminally insane to be housed until the state decided what to do with them, with the shortage of quality mental facilities around the state, it was very difficult.

County jails are usually very small. Maximum
occupancy 30 or so. My jail was the second largest in the state of Michigan max housing over 2,000 the first is Cook county jail in Detroit.

I'd pick anything over hostage! Lol

Really?

You know how the shape of the implant is round, and then there is a little clear plastic 'port' where the leads come out of the implant and go out into the various veins? Well, you can see the whole shape of the implant 'under' my skin including the little plastic port. The skin on my chest is very thin. Do you think that is why you can see the shape of it? It's that little plastic thing that is causing me some discomfort. It is nearer to my armpit...But nothing actually sticks out of the skin.

While I have you..have you heard of 'diaphragm stim? It feels like little heart beats in my upper stomach left. It doesn't hurt, it feels 'strange'. I went to my doctors office and of course it didn't do it there (it's intermitent). He said he made some adjustments, and all the leads are in place and I should be fine. Now it's back, not as strong, but still...he is a nice guy, but really busy. I got the impression he thought it wasn't a big deal and didn't seem overly concerned. Do you think I'm being a hypochondriac?
