Has anyone had v tach with guidant altruia? I had one put in for bradycardia at night. Now sometimes in the early morning I wake up with a heat rate of 100 - 120 bpm and a funny feeling in my throat, it goes away after about 15 mins or so.

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.
Pacer threshold test

You are likely experiencing the pacemaker running a test to determine the voltage threshold necessary for the heart to respond. This is done by increasing the pacing rate above the non paced rate and then slowly lowering the pacing voltage until a beat is skipped. Then the voltage is increased until normal pacing is resumed. A safety factor is added and this information readjusts the working voltage. There may be other tests at the same time.
The effect is to have your HR change quickly over a wide range. Mine is increased into the 100's. The sudden change can give you a strange feeling. They try to set it to do the test when you are in deep sleep and won't notice it. For some folks it is enough to wake them.
Another totally different possibility is that your Rate Response is ON and set to be very sensitive to movement. If you had a dream that resulted in your thrashing around a bit in the bed it could sense it and increase your HR.
Probably a good idea to call the cardio and have a checkup to see what the pacer has recorded.
