Hi, I hope someone can help me with shit problem. I went to the emergeny room last night with coughing up flegm, headache, shortness of breadth, and a little nausea. The doctor said I have fluid around the lungs and heart the happens sometimes with arrhythmia. I there a treatment for this? he said the problem causes pressure on the lungs and heart. I'm going to my doctor tomorrow but hope some here can help with information. Thanks, Jane

LOL...sorry, I couldn't resist either.
18 days after my implant, I developed fluid around my heart. Not common, but it can happen I was told. I felt terrible and it hurt to take a deep breath.
Like Ian said, my Cardio told me to take an extra diuretic and potassium (so that my potassium wasn't depleted) for a few days and come back after a week and it worked for me. Escaped another hospital stay...always preferred.
Feel better,

Fluid on the lungs ( pulmonary oedema ) can occur if the pumping action of the heart isn't strong enough and there is a build up of pressure in the blood capillaries of the lungs, or there can be non-cardiac causes.
The usual treatment is to take diuretic tablets such as frusemide which you are given on an outpatient basis and you get rid of the excessive fluid in your urine , or the diuretics can be given intra-venously in the hospital if the drs think the condition is serious enough.
I'm surprised they didn't give you diuretic tablets last night, perhaps they want to do more tests .
Best of luck
Ian
