I guess I might as well say hi.
I'm a 20 year old guy from Canada. I'm pretty into whatever I wanted to be into, weather it be skiing, scuba, rock climbing, biking, golf, pretty much anything that gets me outside.
In September of last year, I was in a bike race, crossed the finish line, and collapsed. (I finished second, by the way) It was about as good as timing gets, as there were 2 doctors and a nurse standing watching the finish line, who apparently knew how to do CPR. It took 20 minutes of solid CPR before an ambulance showed up and then another 15 or so minutes before the ambulance guys had me on my way. I then spent a month or so in a medically induced coma, then another couple months in rehab.
Fairly early on in the process, I had an ICD implanted. Since then, I have had an EP study/ablation, an augmented CT, a bunch more X-rays/other imaging I don't remember, and nearly every test they could do, and they still don't know what happened.
So here I am now. I'm back on the bike, and working again. I thought this might be a good group to join, everyone here seems pretty supportive and friendly.

Gullever, a bit of both. I was in a cyclocross race at the time, which is like road biking on grass.
Thanks for the positive thoughts.
thanks, again

I would love it if people would share the story, maybe it and other people's success will motivate people to help in situations like mine.
Welcome

I am a little late on my welcoming, but welcome. I am on and off of the site every so often and, while not a good thing, it's assuring to see other young people on the site(sorry to everyone that's aged, but it makes me feel my age again seeing other younger members). It's hard for some to imagine giving up certain loves for activities when a medical condition hits them early in life. Mine was football and sports in high school. I enjoy hearing the other stories as well and find the site uplifting at times when it just hits me again(not in terms of a shock), that I have this metal box in my chest driving me crazy. Good luck through it all and ask if you need something!

You've been through it. Glad you had the medical attention available when you needed it. There seems to be a lot of this sort of things happening to the younger group, many with worse outcomes.
One thought I have is that it may be a combination of a virus or such causing irritation in the hearts conduction system. Put this together with a high demand from competition and the result isn't pleasant. Either one alone would be fine.
There is a wide range of knowledge and experience as well as humor on the forum.
