Hi
I recently had my 3rd pacer implanted last week. When I woke up I was told I had a staph infection that had been there since my last implant 7 yrs ago. My 1st only lasted 2yrs, Dr put bottom lead in wrong place. So it use to much battery. So on to different Dr. I am on oral meds for the staph, but how will I know if it is gone. It never showed up in my blood work? I just had huge pacer site, sore. And it is still that way. Any ideas???

You know you're wired when...
Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
question.....

I would ask: how do they know you had a staph infection for 7 yrs? You deserve an answer to this question. Then I would point blank ask them what you just asked here: how will you know if it is gone after you finish your medication if it isn't showing up in your blood work?
Did you feel anything during these past 7 yrs like fatigue or dizziness......did you have any symptoms that you can look back at now and say ah ha...now I know why I felt like X, Y, or Z....or was it only what you described above as a huge pacer site and sore????
Personally, I wouldn't let this matter drop until you are 100% satisfied with the answers you get, then I'd even go for a 2nd opinion.
Something just doesn't add up here....in my opinion.
In the meantime, I hope you're healing well from your 3rd pacemaker surgery.
Please keep us posted as this is truly an interesting discovery.
Take care,
Pookie
