shocking

I have atrial fibrillation diagnosed 11/2010. I had my pacemaker placed on 2/13/12 due to brady/tachy syndrome. Surgery went well but have been having lots of irregular beats since then, mostly PVC's. I figured it was in response to the trauma the heart goes thru having the leads placed. Potassium was 3.3 pre-op so have upped my potassium in my diet and things calmed down some. Now I've also noticed what feels like little shocks right at the pacemaker site. Is this in my mind or has anyone else ever experienced this? It's happened 4 times since the surgery. The first three times it wasn't very strong so I thought maybe it was my imagination but the one I had tonight was a little stronger and I felt it right on the incision site. Thanks in advance for any insight into this.

Hi Cag5,

I had my PM implanted on 1/6/12 and the sensations I felt were more like twinges, especially around the site.

I would sometimes feel these twinges down my left arm, it was a little unsettling. I had my PM implanted due to vasovagal syncope when getting a stomach virus.

I don't think this is in your mind, but our bodies way of mending the nerves back together.

I like the idea of you upping your potassium intake, it makes perfect sense. They were giving me this during my stay at the hospital.

I hope those shocks will soon subside.

Hopefully, Pookie may weigh in on this one too!
