worried

I've had my pacemaker for three years but sometimes I get a little worried I can be sitting on my couch reading and feel a jolt right in the middle of my chest. pretty scary......

This may not be the reason, but both with a natural pulse, and an artificially paced pulse, naturally occurring extra beats can occur, technically referred to as premature contractions. When this happens, both naturally and with pacemakers, the next beat is delayed. When the heart/pacemeker does beat, the contraction is more powerful and can be experienced as a thump. It happens to me a lot, and I also notice it more when resting. If this is the reason, it is nothing to worry about, but it's still worth getting advice from the medics. I'm assuming you do not have a defribillator.
