fast beats at night
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this: when they lay down at night they can feel their heartbeats like their heart was going to jump out of their bodies...It happens every time I lay down at night.
My icd-d was put in Jan of 2012. I had it checked last week; all seemed well, but I mentioned it to the Dr and he said just take more of the digoxin. Well before having the icd put in I never felt my heart pounding like this. I do have a LBBB and cardiomyopathy...so what is going on? I can hardly go to sleep at night because of this. Anyone have any answers?
Oh yes, I wasn’t even taking meds before this was put in and never felt this and now I’m taking 2. The troprol xl in the afternoon and the .125 digoxin in the morning. Maybe I am taking the meds at the wrong time...it just seems you can never get clear answers from the dr.

Thanks for a comment...what is funny is I didnt need these meds before I had the ICD_ put in...I could never
feel the heart beat.....now it has been one thing after another...I do have more energy so that part is good.I tried to go to .250 on the digoxin but with the tropro xl my blood pressure went down to 91 over 48 and I could not get around..now im wondering if it could divide the digoxin and take .125 every 12 hours plus the .25 toprol ..going to call and ask...

Good idea to ask your doctor.
I am prescribed irbesartan 75mg daily to manage my blood pressure. The last when I had BP sink too low (symptoms - dizzy, light headed, nausea, weak), my EP just asked me to skip a dose and monitor the BP. This work for me and normally I would just resume the med the very next day.

Your ICD is not of any help to relieve the strong heartbeats. This arrythmia need to be managed by medication. Check out both digoxin and Toprol XL if they are best for you. Ask your doctor for clarification on the "more of digoxin?".
This has worked for me. The drugs (propanolol, for me) that manage atrial fibrillation is best taken twice per day spread out every 12 hours. I also make sure 1 dose is taken 1 hour before bedtime. Check out if this works for you as well.
Take care and best of luck
