All Healed

Hi, I've been busy but just got around to reading some of the new posts. I am happy to report that I am almost 100% healed from my 3rd pacemaker surgery. It's almost 4 weeks since the surgery. Because I only had the pacemaker replaced & not the leads, I had a quick recovery, although I had to take precautions the first 2-3 weeks. Like not lifting my arm over my head, doing arm exercises, not lifting heavy packages with my left hand -- pacemaker is on my left since I'm right-handed. When I read some of these posts I felt deep emotion for people who have had so much trouble with their implanted devices. I live alone, have no one to help me, must drive, and I keep all my doctor's appointments. No one to drive me around. It struck me that so far, I've been lucky. I have multiple heart problems since birth, but not coronary. I received the new monitor and it's easy. I will get an in-office test twice a year and a phone test, using the new high-tech equpment, twice a year. New monitor is very easy to use, just follow the instructions. I did a trial test days ago & no one called me, so my new pacemaker must be fine. Have an echogram this week, a bit nervous. Good luck to all, heart issues are scary, I guess we do the best we can. I try not to think about it, do things more slowly now and am grateful for each day I am a 64 year old woman, on Social Security Disability Income, divorced many years & daughter lives 2,000 miles away. But I get by, have some family & friends where I live, but basically alone most of the time. I "manage" and I hope everyone on this site can find out as much as you can about your heart conditon and try to be diligent in your care. Ask your doctors lots of questions. This website is very helpful. We never know what's going to happen, so one day at a time. Make lists & try to solve each problem as it crops up. That's all I can tell you and for those of you who belive, pray. Peace.

Hi Alaskan_Brat, Thank you for your lovely compliment. I really do care about other people and like to help them. I'm pleased that you liked my post. If only one person gets something out of the long posts I write, then I feel I have done some good for the word. Bless you, peace.

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
