Shortness of breath w/ stress

Hello, my name is Adam. I am new to this club and after following a few posts I decided to join. I had a pacemaker put in almost three months ago. The first month I didn't feel so well at all, it was a very difficult month for me. The other two months are better but I have a question to whoever experienced the same or has an answer.. When I worry, get upset, or stressed I feel a tightness in my chest and shortness of breath to the point I feel I need to go outside. Sometimes I feel I'm about to faint. I can feel this way up to a day because of a stress or worry but then its goes away. Is there anybody else who experiences this? I told my cardiologist about this and I had a stress test done, but it all showed normal.. If anyone knows anything about this please share. Thank you so much.

it is good to have you join us. Have you ever had panic attacks, because they can present with the same symptoms you are describing. It can be difficult getting used to having a pm, go back to your GP and tell him/her how you are feeling and check out to see if it is medical or not, it is quite normal to feel anxious but it is good to remember that the pm is there to help us and try not to let it rule your life. I have had mine for 5 months and have never felt better and rarely think about it except to be thankful that it is there supporting me and giving me a much better quality of life.

I have only had 3 of them in my life but if I never get another it will be too soon. My Daughter unfortunately has them on a regular basis. She uses alprazolam sublingually to stop them immediately. It tastes awful but it works. If she has the time and privacy she can use deep breathing and progressive relaxation the alprazolam is only for emergencies, when she can't leave class for instance.
best always,

Adam50, Jane32:

I am experiencing the same stress attacks. I can usually beat them back by relaxing. If any of you have other ideas on where to read up on this, please pass them along. I have had a pacemaker in for about 2-years and realize that there may be some other underlying issue. Ron

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
