I'm writing this from my hospital bed. Yesterday, I received my Biotronik Evia pacemaker to treat my vasovagal syncope. My left arm is in a sling, and the bruise forming on top of my pacemaker is starting to hurt. The surgery took 30-45 minutes. I was semi- conscious during the operation and did feel it being inserted. It hurt a little but was tolerable.
I'm looking forward to going home today. The Biotronik rep was in the operating room with me, and, it turns out he lives less than a mile away. I have a new friend.

Starting my recovery

I'm back from the hospital(4 days since surgery) and am starting my rehab. I'm able to walk about half a block. Pacemaker was checked by the Biotronik rep. It only turns on when rate of decrease in blood pressure reaches a certain threshold. Other than that, it is not on at all. I still notice the dull pain in my left pec. Can't wait for that to go away. I'm keeping compliant with doctor's orders and not lifting my left arm or handling anything over 10 pounds. Overall, I'm feeling better and am able to have more independence.
Post-op day 5

I'm able to get around a lot more today. My scar on my left pec still hurts. It is a relief to lie down and take gravity out of the equation. But, it's a lot better than the last four days.

Now about to hit the two year mark

I've had my BioTronic pacemaker for almost two years. Since I've had the pacemaker, I've not had another fainting event. When I went to the hospital after my fall, I received antibiotics and anti-fungal medication to treat the underlying cause of my stomach ailment. I think that cured me. I've never had pain in my stomach again.

Ice man

Thank you. I wondered why I have not received any ice. My incision is glued shut and not stitched. I don't know if that would make a difference, but it makes sense to me that ice should be used.
