I think it would be wise for your mother to go to the Dr and have a check, to make sure there is no infection. When I had my pm implanted in August, they punctu red my lung during procedure and I needed a chest drain, so was on morphine for 2 days and was badly bruised, 5 days later I was still in pain, but only on panadol. I found if I put my pm arm on a pillow at night it was more comfortable in the early days. I am happy to say that I havn't felt this good in a long time so hopefully your mum will have the same result.
Best wishes
Jane

When I had mine done in July I had alot of pain and discomfort, it took some time for my body to get use to it. Give it time if the pain remains see your doctor, just remember your body has to get use to having a battery implanted into the muscle with leads going into your heart,I had major probs due to contacting a lovely flu witch eneded up as Broncitus lol, darn well now, whiper sniping mowing and digging large holes for a retaining wall, back at work full time now, take it easy, and try not to worry, it all will come together Cindy, by the way this is my first implant as well, I see it as my buddy and a friend as I have just had a birthday on the 01012012 I know this would not have happened, for a fact
Better to recheck

Had my pacemaker implanted 2/2009,was quite miserable, when I returned for my follow-up the doctor acted as though I was over reacting to everything until he checked it, swelling, allergic reaction to the adhesive on the steri strips, and a drainage site, all no no's. Needless to say his attitude changed. Better to be safe than sorry, have it re-checked. Good Luck

Arm Pain

Hi Donny, 5 days after my implant i woke up to severe swelling and pain. I read in the take home instructions to call the Doc if there is a sudden increase in swelling so they had me come in to get it checked. They gave me more pain meds and told me to put ice on it 20 min at a time 4 X's a day. It's now been 12 days since my implant and the swelling has gone down considerably and the pain is much less each day. I would suggest getting it checked out to make sure there is no infection. Good luck.
