should I stay or should I go?

I don't even know what's going on. I have had a "cold" for over a week. My phlegm is very thick, but no coughing. Just when I wake up, gross to clear my throat. Blowing my nose produces fluorescent green snot but I have not been too worried until my pacemaker started burning. This a.m. the throat clearing ritual produced the usual very thick phlegm surrounded by bright blood. Now I taste blood and still feel congested. Lifetime of asthma, extremely toxic outside air to breathe, but not feeling bad enough to think I need hospital. I can't decide...call family practice doc, cardiologist or tough it out?

Blood

Any time you cough up blood, your condition needs investigating. As Ian has said it probably is just a burst blood vessel, but please get yourself checked out asap, you may need a course of antibiotics to clear it up. Let us know how you go.

Thanks. I needed a second opinion or two. I just hate to.pay for Dr visits when not needed and Medicare doesn't always cover...

Whatever you do, be seen! Green = infection. I'd start at the GP, sinus infection or bronchitis sounds more likely than something with the pm.

Probably nothing to worry about

but, if I were you , I would see your GP .Chances are that your throat-clearing ritual has burst a little blood vessel somewhere ; why tough it out ? Get it seen to !

Call the Doctor

by gleesue - 2013-12-17 11:12:49

A lot of times I call my doctors office, give his nurse the symptoms. She tells the doctor, the doctor calls in a prescription,. No cost no worry about Medicare coverage.

It was amazing that infection did not go to asthmatic lungs,.but. I did have a fever and a significant infection. Thanks, group
