I had a pacemaker inserted at the end of October 2011. From the morning following insertion, I have had periodic pain that seems to be in my lungs and throat.
The cariologist and my internist had no idea, they said, what the problem is.
Should any of you have any information on this, I would be very appreciative of having it.

It is possible to puncture a lung during the process of running the leads. This is usually serious enough that it requires emergency surgery, but there is always the chance of a minor injury.
Another possibility is that it could be related to anesthesia. If you had general anesthesia they might have used a breathing tube, which always opens the possibility for wind pipe or lung damage.
just guessing,

Both Sue & Frank have excellent suggestions....if you are experiencing any type of pain, that is the only way our bodies can tell us something is not quite right, so please ask your doctor to send you for a simple chest X-ray, if that comes back "clean", and you are still in pain, then I'd demand a CT scan and/or an ultrasound.
Sad, but true, many times we have to push our doctors.
And if your doctor won't do what you ask, get a 2nd opinion if you can.
Take care,
Pookie

periodic pain

It's not unusual to have some kind of pain after a pacemaker and the fact yours is periodic could be related to anything.
But to be sure, you should find a doctor that will not give you the answer "they have no idea"...that is not a good answer.
Did they do an x-ray of the area to be sure the leads are all where they should be?
