Does anyone have experience of Pacemakers in the workplace and in particular the Police. I normally would have to wear a Tetra System radio and at the powers that be are not sure if its safe on the chest at 6 inches from my unit or on the hip out of the way with the loss of power. Can anyone help.

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
You'll be fine.

I am a serving PC in the UK. I use my Airwave handset on my right shoulder/chest as I feel more comfortable operating it with my left hand, but have used it extensively on my left shoulder/chest in the past when I was an AFO due to the firearm position in the right shoulder. At that time it was directly over my PM and I never had any problems with it.
To be honest I've only ever noticed interference when going through the security arches in court and in custody blocks, even then its only momentarily and just feels like my heart rate getting a bit faster - move out of the arch and its back to normal in a flash. I don't use the hand-wand as the sarge wont let me but I would do if required.
Just find what you're comfortable with.
Also, feel free to message me if you want.
