Still having the legs swelling ...not as bad. But now I have a burning in the heart itself, just slightly pushing on the area above the pacemaker is very sore, but the burning is intense in the heart mostly on the left side where the device is implanted. I have an appmt with heart doc. on Friday, hope I can hang in there, Also I am very tired. Could sleep 24 hours a day..

pacemaker site

is the pacemaker site more swollen since your sugery? is the pacemaker site red, hot, or oozing any puss?
If YES then it could be (emphasis on could be) infected and it should be looked at immediately. If you can, why not have your family doctor look at it tomorrow or go to the ER.
A lot of people complain (me included) that after surgery all they wanna do is sleep; it could be the drugs wearing off that they used to put you to sleep for the actual surgery or it could be any new drugs you are on (if applicable) or it could be that your pacemaker needs to have it's settings adjusted, which your doc will do in about 3 months time. With that being said, if you still feel awful, call and see if you can have your pacemaker "interrogated" now rather than later.
Keep us posted.
Good luck and take care,
Pookie

this was a follow up post to my leg swelling vasculitis post, HurtHeart, I think u posted that response last time, I'm not a big salt user and I'm normal weight, primary care doc thinks its inflammation in my body. No one really knows about the swelling except the vasculitis speculation. The PM was implanted 7 months ago, so there would be no open surgical site. I dont know seein my EF doc tomorrow and have a PM check on Aug. 3rd, wondering if I could get an exray to see if something has moved or irritating a tendon or something.
So I will let you all know.
check up

I saw the EP doc yesterday. They have me scheduled for an echo next week to have a look at my leaky mitral valve. I have a PM check on 8-6 and they are going to exray my chest to see if something might be twisted or rubbing, giving me irritation, as I keep itching by one of my leads. EKG was normal. and no AFIB at that time.
So we'll wait and see.
Swelling

My first pm was implanted in my left just below the shoulder blade and the two leads went through the vein. I have a dual chamber pm so had one lead in atrial and other in ventricle. After 6 months or so, I had the swelling in my arms and legs. My body was rejecting the pacemaker, forming blood blots around the wires. It was quite painful. So they had a thoracic surgeon do my next procedure, removing the pm and leads from one shoulder, on to the other side, wires going through the veins into the heart. About 8 months later, it happened again but worse. My surgeon removed it from the shoulder and implanted it in my ab, leads r ran outside the heart. Had no problem after that. Was on a blood thinner for a while but later was taken off of it when things finally settled down.
Hope u find some relief soon.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
please get checked
