I don't have an ICD, but was aware of this recall in Oct 2007. It was on the TV news & in the newspapers. I called my Cardio as soon as their office opened that AM & they had not heard about it yet. They immediately checked on it, & called me back to confirm that I did not have that lead. They then checked all their patients w/ ICD's.

Kind of interesting - here in the US, surveys have found that most physicians get news of things like this from news media first - it's just faster than official channels.

I have maintained for a long time that PM/ICD patients, especially ICD patients, can suffer from PTSD from fear of the shocks. I know a woman who has an ICD, & it has fired three times since she got it. She described it as being like getting kicked by a mule. Now THAT's pretty dramatic. Nice to see some real medics who agree w/ me!
