Pacemaker Change

Wonder if anyone has experienced the following:-

I had my pacemaker changed last week for the first time. Before that I had been suffering from angina because 2 of the 4 bypasses I have had are now blocked. I would get the angina after being relaxed all evening just before going to bed, no breathlessness.

After the pacemaker change the angina seems to almost have disappeared. From using my GTN spray 3-4 times a day, I have now used it 3 times in the last week!

It was obviously something to do with the settings on the old pacemaker. Can anyone throw any light on this issue? Is it because of the more modern design of the new pacemaker or just that the old one was set incorrectly.

Thanks for any info

Terry

Do you know if you use rate response? That's the first thing that comes to mind that has had huge improvements in the last few years. The newer ones are much more sophisticated than your last one likely was (assuming you use rate response).

Whatever the reason, yay!!!

Hi TraceyE,
thanks for your response.
I've just come back from the hospital after a checkup. The technician told me the only difference was that the old one was set for rate response and the new one wasn't. She said that my profile showed that I should be set up to have the rate response on, but hey, if you feel better with it off, listen to your body!
