Hi- what type of problems are u having? just getting use to it? It takes a couple months maybe more to get use to it. I am 26 and got my pacemaker in July and I think im mostly use to it- but I think as a result of it and other stress I do sometimes get anxiety attacks or have general anxiety which is new to me. I'm working on it with exercising and breathing techniques and know not to fear anxiety anymore and welcome it in- thats the only way to get rid of it. I finally can sleep on my stomach or side or whatever I want now. Im back into mountain biking and doing exercising. Im thinking of starting to run- i know lots of ppl who do marathons and Ive heard on here of several of them being with pacemakers- dont let it hold you back in anyway- your the same- but actually better now because you have a backup safety device- thats the way i like to think of it! Take care- if u have any more questions u can always message me

thanks for the note!-yes i hate the anxiety attacks. In july of this year i had to have a hysterectomy because of ovarian cancer .im now cancer free.Thank God-I went back to work,in oct i had the heart attack and had to have a ICD placed in my chest.Dr said it was due to stress. Im tring very hard to deal with all this.My family has been alot of help.Without them and God,i dont know what i would do. Teresa

I was 55 when I got mine, and it happened very quickly, no time to prepare. I think it took me a good 6 months for me to mentally adjust, and for my body to adjust to all the medicines I'm on also.
Good luck to you.

Yesterday I moved to a new place in my mind and realized how bad I felt 'before' and the difference my pacemaker has made.

HI,
My name is Michael about the same age and also a ICD. I think it does take folks a bit to get use ti the idea....for me early on a lot of constant checking of heart rate....and various machinery, (I work in a shipyard)......I'd suggest talk with your talk about some exercise like walking at the Y.....getting into a routine of it.....and working on your day to day life stuff.....I suspect with some time it will pass,
God Bless,
Michael.
