Feel leads

Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone has ever felt the leads within their veins.Ive had a few events at night when Ive woken with a "crushing type" chest pain, at the time Ive always been on my side. Once I roll on my back it subsides. Ive had a stress test and results are normal. My cardiologist seems to think people can't feel their leads.Im just wondering whether they move slightly when we're on our sides?? Curious. Thanks in anticipation.

Veins can't feel

There are no cells inside the vein wall that can actually "feel". So, physiologically there is no way that you can feel the leads inside your veins. And how should leads cause a crushing type of chest pain? They just run through the veins.

As soon as a device has been put in, the doctors and we, the patients, often link every symptom that we have to that device. Very often that is not the case. Chest pain can have many reasons, like blockages in your spine or reflux.

Chest pain at night

I would agree with sunshinewishes, you need to consider acid related problems as this seems to be positional and at night. I expect some muscular pain is also positional.

I would not be absolutely reassured by a stress. ECG as the pick up rate for coronary diseases is only 90%. On the other hand if you can exercise without chest pain, this diagnosis becomes less likely.

You could always try some reflux/indigestion medicine prior to bed time and see if it sorts out the problem.

You may remember,if you were awake at the time, having your PM leads put in ( nice to see yourself on the TV as an X-ray picture)- this is without sensation except at the skin.

Pacemaker bulk

Not particularly just the leads, but I can feel the pacemaker when I lie on my pacemaker side. It feels like it's being squashed into me, which is not particularly pleasant, so I avoid doing that. When I lie on my stomach, I feel the same way, so I keep my left arm under my shoulder to put some space between my left side torso and the mattress. Can't ignore the fact that it's there.

I do not think that you actualy feel the wires . in the veins but I have the same issue with a line of mild to sharp pain in a fine line to were the leads go also if I lay on my left side I get a strong pressure and pain in my chest not as bad on my back but usually end up sitting up to relieve the pain the Dr's say it is normal and I will get used to it . I don't buy it if you figure it out I would like to know what the reson is too

You know you're wired when...

You have a little piece of high-tech in your chest.
