Another surgery :(

I had OHS in 2010 and got my pacemaker a few weeks later. Then had to have my pacemaker leads replaced a few weeks after my implant. Now i am again having another surgery, to remove my sternal wires from my open heart surgery(they have been causing me lots of pain). at just 16 years old this will be my 5th surgery in 1.5 years. Hoping this is the last surgery for real this time. I have had this surgery posponed 3 times already so its been a very frustrating few weeks. my new and hopefully official surgery date is april 6th.

Hi. I have just read your post & I too think you are so brave at such a young age. My children are 19 & 21 & you have been through so much already at just 16.

I also will be thinking of you and sending hugs from New Zealand. What an awful lot you have been through at such a young age. Hopefully you will have a better quality of life once you have this surgery. Is there a heart children group in your area. My daughter organises days out for the heart children in this area, they also have a teenage group, where the kids go ten pin bowling or just get out a video. They also have camps where children from all over New Zealand meet for a week, my two grandchildren have been and said it is so good to be with others with the same problems. Several of the children have had heart transplants. Stay strong, keep positive, so nice to have you on this web site.

Hang in there sweetheart. My daughter is your age, and i can't imagine how tough this is at your age. It's hard for me with my new pacemaker! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers---especially april 6th!. Stay positive, it's hard in this time. There are great people to encourage you here. Take care.

Thanks. Having a rescheduled ct this week sometime of my chest to make sure theres nothing else wrong causing the pain before he removes the wires. Had all my pre op tests done already. The next few weeks are gonna be extra rough. i've had this pain since christmas. and i've had pain of some kind on and off for almost 3 years now. I haven't been able to physically be a teenager at all. i try to be but the pain has made it hard to do alot of things

Thanks swimguy! It has been very hard but I know its all for the best and theres a reason why its happening. It stinks but i wouldn't change any of it. all my struggles have not only shown me who i really am but the important things in life.

Thanks. I hope so too. Thats cool that your daughter and grandkids do that. I go to a camp for kids with heart issues every summer and have a few friends from there that live somewhat close. The camp is really fun and its a nice way to get away from all this crap and just be a kid but also be around kids that understand what its like and stuff.
