Dental problems

Had second Pacemaker put in on October 24th-all went well.
Came down with pain and infection in my jaw, went to Er as they state not to seek Dental assistance for 90 days. I was given Penicillin and pain meds, but I really don't know if I have to wait to seek dental help, can anyone tell me?? trapper

Most procedures are very safe for those of us with pacemakers. You just have to be sure to tell dentist you have one. Did the Dr. in the ER give you an explanation as to why you should not seek dental assistance for 90 days? What was his reasoning for that.

THe paperwork on my discharge states "Avoid elective dental cleanings and routine dental care for 90 days after your implantation." That is why I was unsure.
I am going to call the dentist this am and get their input as I have been going to them the whole 8 years I had the first pacemaker put in. Thank you for responding. trapper

I had my pacemaker put in 5 weeks ago and last week I broke a tooth. I called my cardiologist to ask if it would be OK to go to the dentist to have the tooth fixed and he had no problem with that. Went yesterday (5 week anniversary for pacemaker) the dentist called the doctor to make sure and got the all clear once again. The dentist did give my an antibiotic to take and made me wait 1 hour to proceed. I also got my teeth cleaned in between getting a new crown.Everything seemed to work out fine. Hope you're able to get your situation figured out soon.
