Rapid heart rate with plapitations!

Hey guys I haven't been on in awhile .. I have been feeling okay lately .. Until yesterday. I was laying down and my heart started going crazy when I took my pulse it was 165 resting. Then two seconds later dropped to 60. Today I have the same thing happen through out the day .. Im having a lot of sob and plapitations.. I'm not sure what's going on and my doctor is on vacation.. I called the doctor on call and not getting any calls back. Tomorrow I'm suppose to be going to work to get cleared to return to work next week.. Not sure if I should do that knowing I'm not feeling right .. I don't know what to do .. Does anyone have /had similar problems like this? As always thankyou for reading

I would call the "on call doctor" again and if he does not respond within 30 minutes, personally - I would present myself at the emergency room where they can hook you up to see what is going on.

Actually, why wait??? If this continues, I'd go tonight.

I'm not trying to scare you, but I always think we should err on the side of caution. I'd rather go to the ER and it end up being nothing versus not going and something bad happening. Plus, you're gonna probably worry all night anyways, right?

And NO, I would not be going back to work.

I really think you need to be seen by a doc as soon as possible.

I wish you the best and please keep us posted if and when you can.

Take care.

Question

by ElectricFrank - 2012-07-27 02:07:53

How did you take your pulse. Almost none of the electronic pulse monitors are reliable with a pacemaker and things get even worse with palpitations.

Why I ask is that you could be feeling palps and then checked with a pulse monitor that gave you an erratic reading.

I agree with Pookie that it would be a good idea to have it checked in ER or Urgent Care. It would be easy for them to do an ECG for you which would give some idea what is happening. It's always possible that you have had a lead detach.

Went to the doctor!

by Stephanie3 - 2012-07-27 05:07:41

I never went to the er last night but first thing this morning i went to my heart doctor .. I'm having a lot of periods of tachycardia.. 129 episodes recorded on my pm.. he said hes not sure why its happening because before the pm i only have bradycardia. So he changed some settings on the pm to find out why its happening and when it does. and Hes letting me return to work next week. Im just hoping everything goes okay and i can start getting back to my life .. thank you again for answering and i hope you guys are feeling good!
